Linux-Netbook.com is dedicated to small laptops running Linux based operating systems like Android, Chrome OS, Joli OS, Linux Mint, MeeGo, and Ubuntu. We encourage and support using free and open source software.
The ARCHOS 10 is a small, light and functional netbook with a 10.2" backlit LED screen, measures 10.2"x7.4"x1.1", and weighs 2.9 pounds. It is powered by an 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270 processor, and Intel 945GSE graphics chipset.
The ARCHOS 10 is equipped with 3xUSB 2.0 and 1xVGA port, a card reader (SD/SDHC/MMC/MS/MS PRO), an integrated 1.3 MP webcam, a built-in microphone, 2 stereo speakers, 10/100 M Ethernet controller, and IEEE 802.11b/g WiFi.
The Ubuntu Linux edition of the ARCHOS 10 sold by Surcouf, a France based retailer, boasts 2GB of RAM, a 500 GB hard disk drive, a 6 cell battery, and costs 375.00 Euro (about US $522) at the time of writing.
A price considerably higher than the Windows XP edition sold on Amazon.com, that also comes with a 6 cell battery but a significantly smaller hard drive (160 GB) and 1 GB of RAM.
Considering the difference between netbook prices in Europe and the US and the shipping costs, this ARCHOS 10 Ubuntu edition is certainly not an option for the casual netbook user outside of Europe, but interesting for people, who want to do more than surf the Web and check email, especially those based in France.
