Just about a month after launching their new Mini 110 netbook HP reduced the price of the Linux edition running HP Mobile Internet by US $30 from an initial price of $279.99 to $249.99*.
$249.99* is the price for the base configuration of the netbook, which includes the following hard- and software components:
In this screencast I show how to install and enable the PHP programming language on the HP Mini Mi from the terminal with just 3 commands.
The HP Mini 110 Mobile Internet (Mi) is the successor of the Mini 1000 Mi. The new model offers improved hardware like a larger (up to 250 GB) and faster hard drive and a 3rd USB port. It will be available for a very competitive starting price of US$279.99.
One of the things that striked me when first reading about the Mobile Internet Experience software was that the Linux command line interface is disabled on the HP Mini 1000 Mi. I could not really imagine what was meant by disabled, until I had the chance to check out the Mini Mi myself.
I was lucky recently being offered an HP Mini 1000 Mi netbook for review from Buzzcorps, which is a marketing agency running word-of-mouth campaigns — in this particular case for Hewlett Packard. HP obviously have an understanding of viral marketing and its potential, which they proved before with campaigns like the 31 Days of the Dragon and kindly provide the review units.
