Linux-Netbook.com is dedicated to small laptops running Linux based operating systems like Android, Chrome OS, Joli OS, Linux Mint, MeeGo, and Ubuntu. We encourage and support using free and open source software.
Leeenux is a Linux distribution based on Ubuntu Netbook Remix 8.04 and easypeasy that is mainly targeted at the Asus Eee PC 4G surf, a.k.a. Eee 701G. By removing KDE apps, the Qt libraries, Mono, Sun Java, various graphics and help documents the distro was slimmed down to 1.4 GB in size when installed.
Still Leeenux, which saw the release of version 1.2 yesterday, comes with several apps that should satisfy the needs of typical netbook usage scenarios, such as Firefox 3.5, Evolution email client, gThumb image viewer, Pidgin internet messenger, VLC media player, Rhythmbox music player, Gnash SWF viewer, Cheese for Web cam support, AbiWord, and more.
These two videos show how to install Leeenux and demonstrate the user interface and some of the available applications. Unfortunately, the video quality (especially of the install howto) is rather low and there is no audio comment, but you get an idea of yet another Linux distro for netbooks.
