The openSUSE project was one of the early adopters of Moblin and now we can see the result of mixing SUSE Linux and Moblin on the upcoming MSI Wind U135 netbook, that will be available in February.
The U135 netbook has a 10" LED backlit screen and is powered by a 1.66GHz Intel Atom N450 (Pinetrail) processor. It comes with a 160GB hard disk drive, built-in WiFi and Bluetooth and offers 4 or 6-cell battery options, that are claimed to have a significantly longer battery life than other devices in its class. The initial price for a Wind U135 netbook is likely to be about US $400.
MSI opted for SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop (SLED) before on the MSI Wind U100 netbook and it's good to read that they finally decided to through another Linux netbook on the market. According to Computerworld, Guy Lunardi of Novell stated that there will be more netbooks running SUSE Moblin soon, Acer is expected to release one early this year.
This hands on video by Brad of Liliputing is demonstrating SUSE Moblin on the MSI Wind U135. It was recorded at CES 2010, which currently takes place in Las Vegas with lots of interesting Linux based devices being showcased.
