Tim from the OSGUI Tech Show takes a look at different desktop environments for Ubuntu 10.04 on his ASUS Eee PC 1001HA netbook. In this video he gives us short impressions on how KDE, LXDE, GNOME, and Xfce look in the upcoming Ubuntu LTE release.
It shouldn't come as a surprise that LXDE (Lightweight X11 Desktop Environment) is the best performing desktop environment on the Intel Atom N270 powered netbook and KDE 4.4.1 is the slowest of the 4 demoed netbook interfaces. I'd argue that GNOME is the best looking and not KDE as Tim suggests, but that's simply a matter of taste and habit.
Which of these 4 desktop environments do you like best?
On a final note: I like Tim's videos because they are helpful and he covers interesting topics, which is way more important than whether he pronounces Ubuntu as Nelson Mandela or other people do.
