Linux-Netbook.com is dedicated to small laptops running Linux based operating systems like Android, Chrome OS, Joli OS, Linux Mint, MeeGo, and Ubuntu. We encourage and support using free and open source software.
The Vye Jolibook is the first netbook that is shipped with the Linux kernel and Chromium based Jolicloud operating system. It has an ultra-bright LED backlight 10.1 inch display with WSVGA resolution and is powered by a fast 1.5 GHz Intel Atom N550 dual-core processor.
The Jolibook comes with 1 GB DDR3 RAM, a 250 GB hard disk drive, 2 x stero speakers, microphone, a UK QWERTY keyboard with customised Jolicloud key, built-in 2 button touchpad, built-in webcam, Kensington lock slot, 3 x USB 2.0, 8-in-1 card reader (MMC, RSMMC, SD, miniSD, SDHC, MS, MS Pro, MS Duo), VGA, RJ45, and DC-in ports, 10/100 Mbps Base-TX Ethernet LAN, a 802.11b/g/n Realtek WiFi module, and Bluetooth v2.1 + EDR support.
The Jolibook is described as one of the fastest netbooks currently available at a competitive price. It offers a powerful multitasking experience and Full HD 1080p support for local and HD 720p support for online videos. The included 4400 mah 6 cell battery is said to last for up to 7hrs.
The Vye Jolibook is offered by Amazon UK for a start price of £279.99 or can be ordered from the Vye shop also for £279.99. Hopefully, we'll see more offerings of the Jolibook and other computers running Jolicloud in more countries.
By the way, earlier today Jolicloud 1.1 was released for upgrade and download. The latest version of Jolicloud offers several improvements including faster boot times, better system performance, and longer battery life.
I just installed Jolicloud 1.1 on my HP Mini 1000 and can only confirm the Jolicould team's advice to plug in your power adapter during the upgrade to not run out of battery during the process ;)
