The leader of the Debian project Neil McGovern did an AMA on Reddit answering questions from the Linux community. Obviously this is quite Debian specific, but Neil also talks about what he likes from Ubuntu and what not so much and and calls the Arch Wiki an absolutely amazing resource.

Review of the Purism Librem 13

The Linux Journal published a review of the Purism Librem 13, a 13" laptop focused on privacy and security. It is built on open source from the ground up, including the BIOS replacement Coreboot as well as its hardware drivers.

The Librem is in the crowd funding phase and the first units are expected to ship in September if the campaign succeeds. It is a high-end device with prices starting at $1,449.

New specs pages and a review

The Chromebook database now contains hardware specs for the Acer 15 C910-54M1 and the ASUS Flip C100PA-DB01 and there is a new video review for the former Chromebook.

Beets playing music from the command line

Beets aims is to get your music collection right once and for all by cataloging your collection, automatically improving its metadata and providing tools for manipulating and accessing music.

Beets is a command line tool written in Python, the source code is on GitHub.

Keyboard shortcuts for various systems

Wikipedia has a page with tables of keyboard shortcuts that cover general usage, navigation, power managment, taking screenshots, text editing, web browsers, tab and window managment and more for different operating systems and applications including Gnome, KDE, Emacs and Vim.
