The latest model of the Chromebook is advertised as the Chromebook for everyone. With an initial price of US $329.99 for the 3G model and decent technical specifications this may well become the most successful Chromebooks in terms of sales numbers so far.

The Samsung Chromebook has a 11.6" display with 1080p support and is powered by a 1.7 GHz dual-core Samsung Exynos 5250 processor. It is equipped with 2 GB DDR3 RAM, 16GB SSD, 1x USB 3.0, 1x USB 2.0, a VGA camera, built-in Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 3.0 support and offers about 6.5 hours of battery life. The XE303C12-H01US model is 3G enabled.

Google offers 100GB free Google Drive cloud storage for 2 years and then $4.99 per month assuming the current pricing. Just be aware about that extra detail regarding this optional storage offer. The basic Google drive plan with 5GB included is free.

Also be aware that Chrome OS is an operating system that works best when connected to the Internet and is optimized for Google's own services, it's not a miracle that they can offer a decent laptop at such a low price.

That being said I'm sure it won't take long until we see other Linux based operating systems running on the new Chromebook. Power to the tinkerers.
