Linux Journal, Wired and other media report that Taiwanese computer manufacturer ASUS is developing a netbook running on Google's mobile operating system Android. ASUS who kicked off the netbook market with the Linux based Eee PC 701 netbook in 2007 takes another step to push Linux based mobile devices.
Android is an Open Source mobile platform built on the Linux Kernel and utilizes a custom virtual machine that's designed for optimal use of memory and hardware resources. As these videos demonstrate Android can already be installed and used on netbooks such as the Eee PC 701, Eee PC 901 and the HP Mini 2133.
