In this video Robby Payne reviews the 4 GB version of the ASUS Chromebook C201 (C201PA-DS02). At about $200 this model is at the low end of the price spectrum of Chromebooks, so you obviously cannot expect a power horse.
Nonetheless, the C201PA-DS02 is a quite decent laptop that is capable of rendering media heavy Websites like The Verge or running applications like Inkscape inside Xubuntu 14.04 using Crouton.
The only real downside Robby makes out is the display with its very narrow viewing angle. If that's not too much of a bummer for you, he recommends this as the Chromebook to get, if you want a really cheap one.
