This video by DetroitBORG gives you some good impressions of the new Chromebook Pixel LS from unboxing, to naming the hardware components, comparing it with the predecessor, and demonstrating the software.
The ludicrous speed (LS) designation is certainly true for boot up times and Web browsing as shown in the video. Moreover, the Pixel 2 has a much better, less washed-out display with more vivid colors and deeper contrast compared to the first generation pixel, which has a pretty good display as well.
You can turn on the sound coming through the keyboard very loud, but as is typical for laptops, the built-in speakers are not very good. So enjoy your favorite music on a different device or connect better speakers to the Pixel.
DetroitBORG concludes that this is a beautiful piece of hardware with the best display on any Chromebook geared towards Google employees and/or people who use Google heavily.
Similar to other reviewers, he states that the hardware is too powerful for the stripped-down Chrome OS, to which I counter that it cannot run fast enough and considering how easy it has become to run full-featured Linux distributions even inside Chrome OS, I really don't see the point.
If you need a power horse that runs Linux, this device should be on the list of options. What do you think?
