This video by Waj Syed from MW Technology compares the Chromebook Pixel 2 with the latest version of the MacBook Pro. Right at the beginning Waj calls the Pixel a glorified tablet and the MacBook Pro one of the best laptops on the market, but in contrast to what one might expect after such an introduction this is a fair comparison and not the typical fan boy praising Apple products.
Both laptops are pretty awesome devices from a hardware point of view and Mac OS X is not the worst operating system out there, if you ask me. Similar to the other Pixel review posted earlier today, Waj does not touch upon the possibility of running Linux on a Chromebook.
With Crouton and the Crouton extension this should be a possibility for many people. But to be fair, I can see that someone who buys a new laptop has certain expectations about the pre-installed operating system and may decide against it, if it lacks required capabilities out of the box.
Nonetheless, I'm heavily biased towards Linux based systems and would rather buy a new Pixel than a new MacBook Pro. In any case, I'd run another Linux distro on both of them, what about you?
