2 days ago Linpus announced (page was removed) to showcase Moblin Version 2 of their Linpus Linux Lite distribution for netbooks at COMPUTEX 2009 in Taipei. In this video recorded by Sascha of Netbook News at the Linpus headquarters in Taipei, he takes a first look at a pre-production unit of the Foxconn SZ901 running Moblin Linpus Linux Lite.
For the better part of the video Sascha takes a look at the hardware of the Foxconn SZ901, which is pretty standard with a 10.1" display, 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270 processor, 1GB RAM, and 160GB hard disk drive. One notable difference to other netbooks is the location of the microphone, which is placed in the front part left to the touchpad. This could be beneficial for the quality of sound input.
At the end of the video we see Moblin Linpus Linux Lite being booted in about 40 seconds with the prospect of more in-depth coverage of the new operating system version at COMPUTEX 2009. If you have missed on Moblin so far, check out the Moblin video tour to wet your appetite.
