There are 2 main criticisms of Chromebooks in terms of hardware I read and hear over and over again: too little RAM and displays with bad viewing angles and contrast. Both may seem somewhat inappropriate regarding the price range of Chromebooks, most models fall somewhere between $200 and $400. Nevertheless, there is clearly a demand for more powerful, higher quality Chromebooks.
An upcoming Chromebook that could fill this gap is the Toshiba Chromebook 2 CB30-B. It comes with an 13.3" 1080p IPS display, a 2.16GHz dual-core Intel Celeron N2840 processor and 4 GB RAM. This full HD model has a touchscreen and offers about 9 hours of battery life.
Steve Paine of Chromebook World got his hands-on the Toshiba Chromebook 2 CB30-B at IFA 2014 in Berlin yesterday. Apart from the full HD version Toshiba will offer a cheaper 720p model that closer resembles the specs of the predecessor model released earlier this year.
