After months of private alpha testing Tariq Krim, founder and CEO of Jolicloud, announced the launch of the publicly available pre-beta of the Linux based netbook operating system last Thursday at the LeWeb 2009 tech conference in Paris.
The pre-beta release comes with several new features, including: GMA500 support, a new installer called Jolicloud Express for installing Jolicloud alongside Windows, a new user interface with redesigned icons and an upcoming new theme, the latest version of the Linux kernel (2.6.32), and an optimized framework for Intel Atom processors with improvements in boot speed and video management.
In this video by Peter from Netbooked you can take a look at some of what's new in the Jolicloud pre-beta release. Peter created more videos, accompanying his Jolicloud Pre-Beta review, that demonstrate installation of Jolicloud on his Samsung N140 netbook, boot-up, an OS walkthrough, and also the removal of the system.
