Samsung showcased a large number of netbooks at CES 2010, but according to Ars Technica there was one netbook that attracted the most attention, the Samsung N127 running Moblin. Considering that the hardware specs of the N127 are pretty standard, basically the same as the Samsung N130, it must have been the Linux based software that got people interested.
Brad from Liliputing, who recorded this video showing Moblin on the Samsung N127, states that the Moblin user interface was incredibly snappy and felt way more responsive than Windows on a netbook. In fact, it felt more responsive than Windows XP or 7 on pretty much any laptop I've tried.
From my own Moblin test runs I can only confirm that the Moblin user interface is awesome and that it deserves the attention.
The Samsung N127 with Moblin will launch in India and Russia this quarter and, provided it does well, either this model or another Moblin based Samsung netbook will be available in more countries in the 2nd quarter of 2010.
As far as I know the N127 is Samsung's 1st Linux based netbook, so let's hope it becomes a success and the MSI Wind U135 will only be the 1st of many more netbooks we'll see in 2010 shipping with Moblin.
