xPUD is a very fast and lightweight Linux distro with a simple user interface. It mainly consists of a Web browser and a media player. On average xPUD boots in 10s, in this video demo it boots in 5s inside virtualbox with no indication of the hardware being used.
The current CD ISO image is a mere 51MB in file size due to the minimalist approach and the use of mkxpud an image generator that extracts files directly from a working Linux system.
A light and fast Linux distribution with an easy-to-use interface and a focus on Web applications sounds like a perfect fit for a netbook.
